"What other business do we have?" Telionia said rather annoyed. The late meetings at the Sanctum were starting to run to sunrise and she knew her pupils were going to pay for it when they woke up.
"We found another tome," Zanien called out nonchalantly, but the head instructors around him glanced at him with widened eyes. "My friend, Raziel, you know, the one who tutors here on occasion, managed to find one. Now, we know how much we desire to get our wicked little claws on this tome," he said, glancing around at the power-hungry warlocks, "but I truly believe that we should send another of our field experienced warlocks to discover its secrets. We know there are rumors to its possible powers, but do we need to risk ourselves?"
"We have sent several of our field warlocks and although some have returned, successful, don’t you think it’s time for us to attempt this power that has been rumored to exist?" Telionia said firmly, her eyes already wider than when she was ready to call the meeting.
"Perhaps, but if it fails? Will we allow Silvermoon to lose one of its finest? No, my dear, this isn’t something we should gamble with."
"Then who do you suggest? Your friend Raziel?" scoffed another warlock.
"Of course not. He has been one of our experienced warlocks who went out and succeeded. No, I think that this time, we should focus on someone who has proven herself time and time again." Zanien’s lips formed a cruel smile as he spoke. "I recommend Alexielle Adier’i." The other warlocks looked at each other and nodded.
As soon as the meeting was done and the warlocks retreated for the few hours of sleep they had left, Zanien remained in his seat, still smiling at the idea of Alexielle taking on the dangerous task.
"I take it it worked?" a voice called out from the shadows.
"Of course. They don’t say no to her. It was perfect." Zanien looked up and saw his friend Raziel walking toward him. "I’m surprised you managed to get another book."
"Once you have the power it grants, it’s not hard to locate another. It calls out to you." Raziel reached for the goblet of red wine given to him by Zanien. "What do you expect will happen?"
"Well, if all goes well, I expect for my lovely Lexi to take the challenge and seek training. Obviously, she won’t come to me, since you now, she hates me and what not, but you. You are experienced and know the ropes. She’ll learn from you, but you won’t help her completely. I want her to suffer. I want her to learn some humility when it comes to the hierarchy of this place. And when she’s suffered enough, and she gains the fel powers attained in this book…" Zanien removed the fel-flowing, chained tome from under his cushion. "When she accepts full on the true Fel power, well, then maybe, maybe, she’ll come running back to us because…" He began to chuckle, which turned into a laugh, "…because she’s too stupid to handle it all herself."
By now, both Zanien and Raziel were laughing. “And we’ll be able to control our little warlock however we want.” Zanien reached out, handing the tome to Raziel. “Give that to her. She won’t take it from me. Tell her the council has agreed. She will be tested.”
Raziel took the tome and smiled. “It will be a pleasure to work with your Lexi. I have heard some things.”
"The naughty ones are true," Zanien said, smirking as he drank his wine. "Get it done."
Raziel smiled and bowed, his black hair falling forward before he lifted his head back up, “Yes, Master Zanien.”
